The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an intergovernmental organization established to promote economic integration, political cooperation, and overall development within the southern region of Africa. SADC consists of 16 member countries, namely Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The organization aims to achieve sustainable development, eradicate poverty, enhance food security, and bolster economic growth in the region.
One of SADC’s core objectives is to promote economic cooperation among its member states through the establishment of a free trade area and the elimination of trade barriers.
